Exoplanet found- with life?

It's probably a typo. The journalist probably meant to write '99.9999' percent likelihood. '100 percent' means they actually found life on another planet. I would like to think they meant they found life on an exoplanet.

"Odds of Life on Newfound Earth-Size Planet '100 Percent,' Astronomer Says"
Jeanna Bryner

Jeanna put in the following quote:

"Personally, given the ubiquity and propensity of life to flourish wherever it can, I would say, my own personal feeling is that the chances of life on this planet are 100 percent," said Steven Vogt, a professor of astronomy and astrophysics at the University of California, Santa Cruz, during a press briefing today."I have almost no doubt about it."

So, at least Jeanna puts it on a professional. If I were to break this down from a 'scientific paradigm' i would have to say, Vogt sucks as a scientist. Science isn't based on 'personal feelings.' It's based on data. Further, when he says 'given the ubiquity and propensity of life to flourish wherever it can...' I have to wonder, again, if he sucks as a scientist. The only example of life, per all the experts, has been Earth. One sample size does not make life ubiquitous. If we use the solar system as our sample size, life clearly doesn't come close to 'flourishing wherever it can.' Oh, and can't we spend forever discussing what 'wherever it can' means. That's like saying Pluto isn't a planet because it didn't clear out its orbit... Then again, it is out there a ways. Had it been as close to the sun as say Mercury, it would cleared its orbit, and therefore a planet?

Is this a game? Seriously. Scientists, NASA, officials, and academics have consistently said Earth is the only place we know life to exist. Interestingly, they say that and then spend millions of dollars to make sure Mars landers and Rovers don't carry microbes to a 'sterile' planet. That's just nuts, especially when you're trying to spend tax payers money wisely and accomplish a goal that helps society. Learning about Mars, maybe going to Mars, helps humanity.

Here is an assertion which I think makes sense, scientifically. Life originated on Earth through natural processes, therefore, life should exist elsewhere. I 'personally' think it does. I would argue it there is evidence for intelligent life, and that intelligent life has actually visited Earth. I would argue that if this were a US court case, the testimonials alone would suffice for a 'yes, there are aliens.' People have been convicted with less evidence than there is for aliens. If one percent of Project Blue Book, government sponsored UFO hunting exercise were unknowns, that means what- 99.999 percent likely one of those might have been aliens? Oh, wait, the US government, who said they stopped looking for aliens, were actually still looking for aliens... The 'tic tac' UFO incident with the Nimitz carrier group was eyes on, radar on, and cameras on- tracking something that is what? Well, if you asked the pilot, and expert "I am a hundred percent sure it was not terrestrial..."

Out of all the scientist that were interviewed on television about the 'tic tac,' how come not one of them scratched their head and asked "Can I have more footage like this? I am interested!"

I believe in alien life. If pinned down, I can't say that with 100 percent certainty. But, when you see articles like this, you might actually believe we, society, are moving closer to a soft release. Before too long, maybe Jeanna will be writing "We are absolutely, 100 percent sure, we are not alone in the Universe."

Jeanna, could you go ahead and do that, please?
Love
John
