car accidents during a crisis

I find it a little humorous that car accidents continue. People on the road, tailgating- because there is no other road space? Slow it down, folks!

But yesterday evening, the accident happened in front of my house. I presume alcohol was involved, because one of the drivers couldn't walk toe to heel and he also apparently didn't have a license; he went away in handcuffs, his vehicle was towed.

This is not meant to blast drunk drivers. I find it interesting the driver managed to hit the only other driver on the road. I was also amazed by the number of people that had to go buy while the officers were investigating.

People are suffering. No doubt. People with addictions may actually have increase in their level of mal-adaptive behaviors, as they are coping with the same stressors, plus all the demons that drove them to self medicate. Some of them may actually seek out attention because all attention has moved away from them being the most important thing in the world. And some, may actually may go into crisis trying to avoid their drug of choice- which either causes them to detox without medical attention, or cause a spike in their use when they give up on trying to abstain.

We can't stop people from using. If we could, there would be no users. If you have a family or friends suffering, bear in mind their journey may be even more challenging than what you may be facing.

The number of people still on the road, well, that's an indicator that we, too, may be suffering. We're used to being mobile. Very few of us know how to sit still! How long can you sit in a room and be content? How long can you go without touching your cell phone? How long can you go... before your urgency rushes you out the door and puts you in harm's way? Seriously, if you're on the road when you don't need to be, you're in a crisis and not thinking perfectly well. Unfortunately, you're likely not be alone- because either you're driving with essential workers, maybe even a care provider, and someone under the influence, and someone who just doesn't give a flip to the safety of others or their communities.

Seriously, stay at home as much as humanly possible, and stay safe.
Love- always.
